J W Leno. One must assume a very rare error in Donald Cowbourne's book, listing him under the entry no 335 for 1923. Thanks to this photo we now know it was 1924.
This looks like the present-day Kirkstone Pass Inn at the summit to the north east of Ambleside - previously known as The Traveller's Rest. Spectators' motorcycles include a Ricardo Triumph and a 2 speed Scott on the left and possibly a 16H Norton against the pole on the right. Competitors couldn't rest here as the "non-stop" extended from Ambleside over the Pass and down to Patterdale on Ullswater
